Acne vulgaris definition

Acne vulgaris is the technical term for common acne. This occurs when there is hormone change in the body and the sebaceous gland in the hair follicle starts to over produce a substance called sebum. This sebum (oil or grease) is then trapped under the skin’s pore and starts to swell which is when acne symptoms start to occur. There are several things that can cause the hormone change that starts the whole process that causes acne vulgaris. The most common being teenage development and 80% of teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17 will get acne of some severity.
